Pool Remodeling & Resurfacing in Dallas

Dallas has tens of thousands of pools built in the 80s and 90s with plaster that has gone rough, tile that has scaled white, and a single-speed pump running up the electric bill. A remodel fixes all of it in a few weeks, without digging a new hole.

Signs your pool is ready

  • Rough plaster that scrapes feet, or bare spots showing gunite.
  • A white calcium line on the tile that no amount of scrubbing removes.
  • Coping that is cracked, lifting, or the wrong color for the house now.
  • A deck that has heaved at the joints, or one that is too hot to cross in August.
  • A pump that runs loud all day, or a heater that quit in the last freeze.

What a remodel can include

ScopeWhat we do
ResurfacingChip out or bond-coat the old finish, then apply pebble, quartz or plaster. Startup chemistry included.
Waterline tileRemove and replace with glass, porcelain or stone. Calcium-resistant grout.
CopingTravertine, precast concrete, or Oklahoma flagstone. Mastic joint redone so the deck can move without cracking the beam.
DeckingAcrylic overlay, travertine pavers, or a full tear-out and re-pour with joints placed for clay movement.
EquipmentVariable-speed pump, cartridge or DE filter, salt system, heater, freeze-protected automation.
Add-onsLED lighting, a new Baja shelf, water features, a spa cut in, or a raised bond beam.

How long it takes

A resurface with new tile is usually two to three weeks from drain to swim. Add decking and equipment and plan on four to six. We schedule around your calendar and we do not drain the pool until the crew and materials are lined up, because an empty pool in Texas sun is not something you want sitting for weeks.

Hydrostatic caution. Lots near White Rock Lake, the Trinity bottoms and the creeks through Plano and Richardson can hold enough groundwater that an empty shell will lift. We check the relief valve and the water table before we drain.

How it works

  1. Estimate. We walk the yard, check access, grade and setbacks, and talk through what you want. Free, and usually under an hour.
  2. 3D design. You see the pool, deck, spa and features together in 3D before anything is dug. Shape, finish, lighting, all of it.
  3. Fixed quote. A line-item quote. Excavation, shell, plumbing, equipment, finish, coping, deck and barrier each priced on their own line.
  4. Build. An insured North Texas pool builder takes it from here, pulls the permit with your city, and builds to the approved design.
  5. Walkthrough. Once it passes final inspection you walk the finished pool with your builder, get the warranties, and learn how to run the equipment.

Also worth a look

  • Pool Construction – New in-ground pools designed in 3D, permitted through your city, and built to a fixed line-item price.
  • Gunite & Shotcrete Pools – Custom shapes, tanning ledges, Baja shelves and spas. Steel-reinforced shells engineered for North Texas clay.
  • Pool Decks, Travertine & Cool Deck – Travertine, pavers and cool-touch acrylic decks that drain right, stay walkable in August, and do not heave with the clay.

FAQ

Pool Remodeling & Resurfacing: common questions

How much does it cost to resurface a pool in Dallas?

A pebble resurface on a typical 400 square foot pool runs $9,500 to $17,000 including new waterline tile. See the pool remodel cost guide for what moves that number.

Do I have to drain the pool?

For a resurface, yes. For equipment, lighting, or coping-only work, usually not.

Can you convert my pool to salt?

Yes. A salt chlorine generator is a common add-on during a remodel. Note that some finishes and older coping stones do not love salt, and we will tell you if yours is one of them.
