Pool & Spa Combos in Dallas

Dallas winters are the reason to add a spa. A heated spa turns a six-month pool into a twelve-month backyard, and building it with the pool costs a fraction of adding one later.

Raised or flush

A raised spa sits 12 to 18 inches above the pool with a spillway edge, which gives you the sound of moving water and a place to sit with your feet in the pool. A flush spa sits level with the pool and reads cleaner in a modern design. Both share the pool's pump and filter and get their own heater and blower.

Heating for North Texas

  • Natural gas heater. Fastest heat, best for a spa you use a few nights a week. Most Dallas homes already have gas at the house, so the run to the pad is short.
  • Heat pump. Slower but far cheaper to run, and on most Dallas winter nights it keeps up. Pair it with a chiller mode and it can also cool the pool in August.
  • Solar. Good for stretching the pool season. Not enough on its own for a spa.

Details that make a spa worth it

  • Jets placed for the people who will actually sit there, not just spaced evenly.
  • A dedicated blower for the air champagne effect.
  • LED lighting on its own zone so the spa can glow while the pool is dark.
  • Automation with freeze protection, so the spa heats from your phone on the drive home and the lines keep moving on an ice-storm night.

How it works

  1. Estimate. We walk the yard, check access, grade and setbacks, and talk through what you want. Free, and usually under an hour.
  2. 3D design. You see the pool, deck, spa and features together in 3D before anything is dug. Shape, finish, lighting, all of it.
  3. Fixed quote. A line-item quote. Excavation, shell, plumbing, equipment, finish, coping, deck and barrier each priced on their own line.
  4. Build. An insured North Texas pool builder takes it from here, pulls the permit with your city, and builds to the approved design.
  5. Walkthrough. Once it passes final inspection you walk the finished pool with your builder, get the warranties, and learn how to run the equipment.

FAQ

Pool & Spa Combos: common questions

How much does a spa add to a pool build?

A raised gunite spa with a spillway, heater and jets typically adds $20,000 to $35,000 to a new pool in Dallas. It shows on the quote as its own line.

How long does the spa take to heat?

A gas heater will take a 400-gallon spa from 60 to 102 degrees in about 30 to 45 minutes. A heat pump takes a few hours, so most owners leave it at a holding temperature during the week.

Can you add a spa to my existing pool?

Yes. A cut-in spa is a common remodel item. It is more work than building both together, but it is very doable.
